* Hatha Yoga is any type of Yoga that follows the 'eight limbs' set out in the writings of Patanjali (an Indian Sage from around 500BC who wrote the Yoga Sutra's). The eight limbs include Asana (physical postures), Pranayama (breath work), Yama's and Niyama's (ethical codes for living) amongst other things.
The word Yoga derives from the Sanskrit root 'Yuj' which means union. Yoga is a system of physical and mental practices that work to help each one of us reach our highest potential and experience enduring health and happiness.

* Wear comfortable fitted clothes (similar to what you would wear to the gym) and bring a yoga mat. Try to avoid wearing loose fitting clothing as it may get in the way of your practice. It is best not to eat a large meal before attending class but if you are hungry then a light snack at least an hour is fine. Also please feel free to bring a drink of water.

* Prenatal yoga is specifically centred about the needs of the pregnant student and their baby. It is much softer than a general yoga class but it still has a toning and strengthening effect on the body (preparing the student for childbirth). A good Prenatal yoga class will cover various Pranayama Exercises (breathing) and Asana's (positions) which are extremely powerful and helpful during childbirth.
